I have lived and worked in Brazil for over 12 years and have visited all but two of its States. The country is huge, comprising 26
States that are divided into 6 Regions: North, Northeast, Centre, Centre-west, East, and South. I have visited all of the regions
but have yet to visit two of the Northeast states. As at FEB09 I have just completed a 9,000 kilometer trip to the North and
Northeast. Note:
- The Amazon Region comprises all the Northern states and a bit more.
- The Pantanal (swamp area) is located below Amazonia in the Centre-West region.
- The Atlantic Rainforest runs along the eastern coastline of Brazil - from the South to the North East..
- The Federal District is not a State as such, but will be treated as one for the purpose separating the stock photos contained
here.
An outline map is provided for reference .... to aid estimating distances: assume maximum height and width of Brazil to be in
the region of 4000 km or 2500 miles. I have not yet visited Bahia or Espirito Santo states.
